Welcome...
... to the home of the Rockets. Currently we are housed in three buildings: the Elementary School, the Middle School and our High School. Our District covers almost 80 square miles making us the largest land district in Clermont County.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Clermont Northeastern Local School District is to insure high levels of academic performance for all students and to utilize district resources to increase student achievement.
Building Locations
Clermont Northeastern Schools are located on a three-building campus at the intersection of US 50 and Hutchinson Road, approximately 2 miles east of Owensville.

Superintendent
The Superintendent is the chief executive officer of the CNE District, responsible directly to the Board for all education and support operations. Mr. Neil Leist was appointed Superintendent for the start of the 2007-2008 school year. Mr. Leist had been the principal of CNE Elementary from 2003 to 2007. Under his leadership as principal, CNE Elementary School received an excellent rating by the Ohio Department of Education. Born in Pike County, Ohio, he was raised on a large farm in Stockdale (complete with saw mill), about 80 miles directly east of Cincinnati. After graduating from Eastern High School, he earned a teaching degree from Morehead State University, Master's Degree from Ohio University, and Superintendent's License from Xavier University. Mr. Leist, has lived in Mt. Orab the past seven years with his wife Candy, and five children.
Taxes and Finances
The CNE School District is funded primarily by both local taxes and state support. A small amount of the overall budget comes from the federal government to support the Title I remedial programs in reading and math.
Approximately 55% of the District's funds are derived from local taxes. These taxes are in two forms. Property owners are assessed based on 20 mills of taxation. In addition, all residents pay a 1% Income Tax to the District. Unlike a city earnings tax, the income tax is paid only by residents of CNE, regardless of where they work, and is not paid by people who work in the District but live elsewhere.
The property tax bills are sent from the Clermont County Treasurer's Office to each residence. The school income tax is paid yearly by filing a school district income tax return with the Ohio Department of Taxation. Many individuals have the income tax deducted from their paychecks by their employers. Employers, even those located outside the District, are required to offer this payroll deduction to their employees upon request of the employee.
Almost all of the remaining 45% of the District's budget comes from the State. The School Foundation Program is administered by the Ohio Department of Education, as promulgated, and funded by, the Ohio General Assembly.
Vocational Education
The CNE District is a member of the Great Oaks Institute of Technology and Career Development. As such, CNE students (primarily juniors and seniors) have access to almost 50 career training programs. The nearest Great Oaks campus (Live Oaks) is located near Milford. The majority of CNE students who study at Great Oaks attend the Live Oaks campus. Students may also attend another campus if the program of interest is not offered at Live Oaks. Transportation to the Oaks campuses is provided at no cost to the students. Training programs available through Great Oaks include: Art, Printing, and Communications Technology, Automotive and Power Technology, Business Technology and Marketing, Construction and Maintenance, Consumer and Community Service, Environmental Science and Agriculture, Health, and Industry and Engineering. In addition, the vocational programs of Family and Consumer Sciences, and Agricultural Science are available at CNE High School.
Special Education Services
Students who have difficulty progressing properly in the regular education program may qualify for one or more special education programs. Testing is provided, and for those students who qualify, an Individual Education Plan is written. Specific Learning Disabled and Developmentally Handicapped classes are offered by the District in all buildings. The District also employs speech/language pathologists.
In order to operate cost-effectively, the CNE District cooperates with other districts in Clermont county, through the CCESC, to offer all other special education services. These include programs for the multi-handicapped, severe behavior handicapped, hearing, handicapped, visually handicapped, occupationally handicapped, and pre-school handicapped. Classes for these students may be housed within the District, or a District student may be transported to another district within the county where the nearest needed unit is located.
Through the ESC, the District contracts for all special education teachers (except for Specific Learning Disabled and Developmentally Handicapped), psychological services, occupational therapists (as needed), and special education supervisory services.
The CNE Districts receives Title VI-B Flow-Thru funds from the federal government to support the education of students identified with disabilities. The District seeks input from parents and community members as to the expenditure of these funds. Residents interested in providing input toward the expenditure of Title VI-B funding should submit suggestions to Wayne Johnson, Special Education Coordinator by phone: 625-5478, fax: 625-6080, or email: johnson_w@cneschools.org

Transportation
The CNE District contracts with Petermann Transit, Inc. to provide transportation services. There are 23 buses used for the morning and afternoon pick up and deliveries, and 3 buses travel the roads during midday dropping off a.m. kindergarten students and picking up p.m. kindergarten students as well as St Elizabeth Ann Seton kindergarten. State law requires that public school districts provide transportation to residents attending private schools when the private schools are less that 30 minutes away. The run is timed from the public school where the child would normally attend to the private school in question. The run is timed in a school bus and conducted during the period of the day when the run would normally occur.
In addition to servicing the CNE Schools, the District provides daily transportation to the following schools:
St. Louis Elementary (Owensville)
St. Veronica Elementary (Mt. Carmel)
St. Andrews Elementary (Milford)
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Elementary (Milford)
St. Marks Elementary (Milford)
